Open Call for Futuristica

We are pleased to announce that we are now accepting submissions for our first short fiction anthology, Futuristica Volume 1!

After looking into book sales data statistics over the last decade or so, we discovered that women, people of color, and non-American readers, while representing the bulk of fiction book purchases, were not buying science fiction in the amounts that they were buying other genres and general fiction. We believe this is because women, people of color, and non-Americans are underrepresented in the fiction itself. We want to provide an outlet for those stories. We want to contribute to the global voice of the future in a meaningful way and we need your help.

Please review our submissions guidelines on the Submissions page and use the associated form to submit your manuscript for consideration. We are looking forward to reading your stories!

It has been a heck of a year. In the last few months of 2013, we implemented our long term plan of selling the house, moving onto a boat, and sailing away to paradise where we could homeschool the kids. We had no clear concept of how much effort that would take. This post on our cruising blog sheds some light on just how much effort we’re talking about.

The good news is, we’re caught up on our boat maintenance and so we finally have time to devote to literature again. Our next planned publication is an anthology of short fiction that meet our Futuristica criteria. Our open call for submissions will start in mid May and run through the end of August. Once we are actively accepting submissions, the submissions guidelines and form will be made available on our Submissions page.
